Community Outreach Projects

CHIPS Holiday Project

Our club chose CHIPS Soup Kitchen & Women’s Shelter to partner with for our holiday project this year. We dropped off 9 sacks of coats and clothing on Christmas Eve just in time for Christmas morning. We also donated 150 pairs of mens socks on Thanksgiving to give out with their hot meals. Thank you to everyone that donated and participated in this appeal.

Halloween Candy Packing

At our last meeting, we packaged 100 bags of candy for children in child protective services. President Janine hand delivered the bags on Halloween morning. We had such a great turnout, we would love to make it a quarterly event.

Pop Up Food Pantry - Red Hook

We did it again! Second year in a row! Our club distributed 200 bags and boxes of food at Coffey Park in Red Hook, Brooklyn, thanks to donations from The Campaign Against Hunger and The Met Council. And special thanks to Green Sky Bookkeeping, Inc., Brooklyn Heights Real Estate Inc and Strategies for Wealth for their sponsorships to pay for the Uhaul and volunteer supplies. And to the Red Hook Star-Revue for helping us store some items and Red Hook Community Justice Center for lending us a helping hand on the day of and spreading the word. We are overjoyed to have also been able to drop food off at 4 community fridges and CHiPS Soup Kitchen & Women's Shelter. What a collaboration! Here are some photos and videos of the full effort. Thank you to the Rotarians that took time out of their days/nights to help make this happen! We are nothing without your help.

Women’s Safety Event

Rotary self defense class was practical, informative, and also humorous.

Best part: discussing how to handle yourself safely on mass transit. (Best tip: don’t sit near the subway doors.)

Our club’s very first “Fill-a-Fridge” day was a success! Thank you to our members, community members and family that participated from near and far. Check out some of the pics!

Juneteenth Food Giveaway

In observance of Juneteenth, we partnered with Soul2Soulz , a local Brooklyn non-profit organization that serves the youth to distribute 260 boxes of food items to families of Crown Heights Brooklyn. The groceries were donated by The Met Council and Campaign Against Hunger.

Year End Party

During our Year-End Dinner, we welcomed our new 2021-2022 Board of Directors.

Shoe Drive

We collected shoes again this year for Soles4Soles. We put collection boxes at seven different sites.

Book Donation

We donated books to a local PTA that wanted to build out their library.
